Best of the Rest of the Booker prize shortlist announced
A few days ago, I wrote about the shortlist announcement for the Best of the Booker prize, a special prize being awarded to the best novel that has won a Booker Prize in its 40-year history.
Scott Pack has created his own award called The Best of the Rest of the Booker, for any book shortlisted for the Booker Prize that didn’t win. His shortlist looks like this:
Amongst Women by John McGahern
Arthur & George by Julian Barnes
Atonement by Ian McEwan
Butcher Boy by Patrick McCabe
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
The Master by Colm Toibin
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
The Restraint of Beasts by Magnus Mills
Waterland by Graham Swift
This shortlist was chosen by a panel of judges which includes a publisher, the former CEO of Borders UK, a book reviewer and several writers.
What does the chosen author win? Pack will bake him or her a cake. I’d accept that!
You can vote for your favourite at the above link until July 9. I cast my vote already - you should too!

Looks as if I have a few books to add to my reading list. Thanks for sharing this information and I absolutely love your blog!
Thanks Nicole - I love your blog too! Food is probably my second favourite thing after books!
